The main platforms The Book Couple recommends for print-on-demand books that will reflect the author’s personal publishing imprint are Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) and IngramSpark. KDP is affiliated with Amazon, and IngramSpark is affiliated with Barnes & Noble.

Both platforms make your book and e-book available for purchase through online retailers. We are not affiliated with either platform but find that they serve our clients well.

Each platform has its pros and cons. For example:

• KDP does not offer hardcover distribution, but IngramSpark does.
• Because KDP is affiliated with Amazon, any changes post-upload appear more quickly on the Amazon site.
• Because IngramSpark is affiliated with Barnes & Noble, the bookstore is more amenable to setting up book signings.
• IngramSpark charges an upload fee each time the files are uploaded; KDP currently has no upload fees.

These are just a few examples. As an upcoming author, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with both platforms before choosing. For more information on each, visit kdp.amazon.com/en_US and ingramspark.com.

Although our clients are responsible for choosing the platform and creating the account, we are happy to assist in the setup process.

The initial upload of the author-approved cover and interior files to the platform of choice is included in The Book Couple’s production fee. With regard to e-books, once the cover and interior are approved and no additional content changes are looming, the finalized files can be converted to an e-pub file and uploaded to the publishing platform. The initial e-pub upload is included in the fee for e-book preparation.
