Traditionally, publishers put out a catalog featuring their new releases every season. Some houses also include the publisher’s backlist (all the previous titles published) in the seasonal catalogs. The purpose of these catalogs is to get bulk book buyers, like bookstores, interested in purchasing their new releases.

In most cases, the individual pages devoted to a particular title can stand alone as “sell sheets.” In the publishing world, a sell sheet includes all the pertinent details associated with a book, such as its category, book size, format, page length, ISBN, and price. It features the book cover, a sales hook, descriptive marketing copy, an author bio and photo, and any attention-grabbing details an author has at their disposal that would make a book buyer want to offer it for sale.

As your own publisher, a sell sheet is a handy way to introduce your book to local bookstores and businesses who may be interested in carrying it. It’s also a great addition to your media kit and for handing out to people to let them know about your book.

The “also available” section can be switched out to include those “attention-grabbing” details mentioned earlier.

The other option is a more creative approach that’s unique to your book—something along the lines of this:
