The present volume complements the author’s recently published book of poems entitled Kaleidoscope: Mirroring Fragments (Amazon, 2nd printing, April 2023). There, his orienting theme was the significance of matter and the whole evolving material universe, seen from the creationist-incarnational-easteral perspectives of a living Christian tradition rooted in the ancient wisdom of Israel. Under the encompassing title of Sightings and Soundings, he now adds several hundred more poems, composed primarily from the middle 1990s to present; over the decades, they appeared in desk-top published, privately distributed fascicles under the various titles serving as division pages for the poems collected here. The poems encompass in their own way a “kaleidoscope” of persons and events, spanning as they do liturgical seasons of the Church year, environmental issues, conflicting ideologies, wars and rumors of wars, but—to lighten the atmosphere along the way—some humorous bits too.
